Triple-I CEO Sean Kevelighan urged homeowners and renters in hurricane-prone states to consider purchasing a flood insurance policy and to assess their flood risks, in a recent interview with the Weather Channel.

“Just look at what happened to Houston after Hurricane Harvey,” Kevelighan said, adding a growing private flood insurance market has given residents policy options beyond those underwritten by the federal government. He also discussed how insurers are closely monitoring rising labor and construction material costs because insurers finance the rebuilding of communities damaged by extreme weather.
