UC Berkeley Wildfire Roundtable

May 5, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

You are invited to an experts’ Round Table to discuss fire safety related issues. The Round Table will provide a virtual venue for multiple experts to present critical new solutions/options or critical unresolved issues through active participation.   The overarching topic of this round table is “Sustainability, Circular Economy and Thinking Beyond the Codes when Working towards Fire Safety”. The Round Table will take place on Wednesday May 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm PST.

This Round Table will feature rapid presentations on key fire safety issues by experts followed by Q&A and debate. The partial line up of speakers includes Daniel Sanchez, Max Moritz, Richard Halsey, Daniel Gorham, David Shew, Kimiko Barrett, Jane Elias, Janet Ruiz, Jay Murdoch, and Sarah Vilms among others. Topics will be varied and cover both vegetation management, hardening of buildings, fire behavior, codes, costs, funding and financing aspects of fire safety issues. Topics and issues were not decided by any single person, rather, they were selected by the speakers themselves, making this an attempt to get the pulse of experts on fire issues.
